Well this feels weird to say, but my book comes out in just over two weeks, so would you like to come drink beer (or a refreshing Coke Zero) with me in Poe’s own backyard?
The launch party1 is happening in the courtyard of Richmond’s Poe Museum, with Fountain Bookstore co-hosting, on September 7th from 6-8 pm. My friend’s fantastic band is playing, and they have even learned “Monster Mash” for the occasion. (Of course they will also be playing their world-famous “Because I Got High”/“When the Saints Go Marching In” medley. Not to be missed, folks.)
Free tickets are right here.
If you’re not going to be in Richmond, you can tune in online. Click here, sign up for a free ticket anyway, and you’ll receive an email with the streaming link before it all goes live.
In the run-up to the launch, Fountain Bookstore is pre-selling signed copies. I also have a box of signed copies, so if you preorder from anywhere (or if you’ve preordered before now), then shoot me an email, and I’ll mail you a bonus signed copy for you to cherish forever as a family heirloom or just give away to the teenager in your life who could really use some Poe-inspired anti-self-help or really any self-help at all, for the love of God. Quit Xboxing, Bradyn!!
There’s also going to be a free event on October 30th at Charlottesville’s beautiful New Dominion Bookshop—happening in-store and streaming online, too.
Click here for more on that. The Halloween mood is real. Maybe we Poe-splay?
Costumes or no, listen: I sure hope I can meet you at the parties or that we can clink glasses via the metaverse. These are trying times. Is “trying” the right word?! NO. But one way or another, maybe we could all use some fun of the Poe kind.
Thanks, and all best,
Cat
As a reminder, a “party” is a festive occasion where we all stand around eating snacks and talking face to face, or dancing, or what have you. Diagram below because it’s been so long since parties were a thing.
